Car games that made history (Part 4)

Once again we made a successful transfusion of blood from Joystiq Motorpasión up with unique and laudable goal of dive into the history of the legendary car games. Those games that somehow deserve to be returned to play. Whether mythical, so they changed the landscape or because they are masterpieces that continue to provide fun in inhuman amounts.

The Last week we ended up talking which many consider the great game of car par excellence, although they go for their fifth release any other has had the same impact as the original Gran Turismo. Today, in the latest installment of this series of posts, we will deviate a little bit of the way to honor those racing games that are out of the norm. Yes, they are racing, the prize for coming first, but do not rely solely on running more and some do not have cars.

I speak five-game special. Someone has recently emerged, others come from the nineties, some reward shocks and destroy the car, others opt to destroy the stage ... A good dose of pure arcade hard, do you join?

F-Zero (1990) - Nintendo EAD

Began the decade of the nineties and many of their house to a "brain of the beast". Come on, a Super Nintendo, just Sacadito of the box and ready to deliver the most colorful graphics of the day (it advertised its unique ability to display thousands of colors). It was time for fans to freak out with speed F-Zero and extensive and dramatic use of Mode 7.

A system that allowed the Nintendo console generate a false sense of 3D depth (Think that all games were two-dimensional time), scale sprites to give the impression that they approached the camera and also do so in a highly fluid.

Say that F-Zero was endless and hilarious games on vehicles futuristic floating on air and moving at blistering pace. What reflections had to be to play that! Damn, You could die in a seen and unseen, Get out of the track, slow down ... but it did not matter, the control was so precise and he was so well balanced and designed that after a game was over and over and over ...

F-Zero was the first game of a saga that lasted until 2004 but, sadly, the quality was lost on the road. Many are the rumors that point to a new version but for now, nothing is confirmed.

Wipeout (1995) - Psygnosis

Surely many have felt a shiver as he felt that name. Wipeout leads us directly to 1995 when the original PlayStation was still a baby. We used (I mean consoles) to play music midiIn two dimensions and with a sense of speed that makes you laugh a lot now. And suddenly came Wipeout.

I only say that the first time I tried it gave me to vertigo. Detailed 3D graphics, full of ups and downs, impossible paths and traveling at a speed never seen before. It was a joy.

Flying vehicles that left a trail behind him, ups powerA control addictive as the most, a visual look manicured, modern and drinking of latest trends in graphic design most extreme and most importantly, a soundtrack that breathtaking display. CD quality original PlayStation service different tracks of dance music that have become legendary for many fans.

Right now you have a version called Wipeout HD available for download from your PS3 and recovering the original flavor but 1080 definition. It was one of my first purchases in PStoreIf you liked the original is not what you can not miss.

Midnight Club: Street Racing (2000) - Rockstar Games

At the beginning of the last decade a movie made a lot of damage. The Fast and the Furious (A full throttle, as the brilliant minds of those who put titles in Spain) popularized a new fashion for tuning and more extreme cars.

Paint colors very rare cars, throw them up on the mats leds, huge wheels and extreme changes, all worth. And of course many racing games that drew on fashion. You might think in the more canis of Need for Speed series, but today we are talking about Midnight Club: Street Racing.

A real play the Lords of Angel Studios, Rockstar San Diego then was pulled from a hat. He drew attention for its detailed graphics and that was the first to propose an entire city travel freely.

The original game had two very big scenes, New York and London, where they had recreated the finest monuments and the most legendary. We started with a car very slow and little by little, as we earned runs, could be modifying and increasing the speed and appearance. The ultimate goal was to defeat a mysterious driver (which happened to be a woman) regarded by all as the best in the world.

The franchise has a few years but nobody stopped wonder to come back on track. Midnight Club: Street Racing was a real fever in the early days of PlayStation 2 and Rockstar certainly still has much to say.

Burnout (2001) - Criterion Games

When the whole world worried about racing and speed, the Criterion guys decided to take a step further. Shocks. What happens when a sports car bursts to 180 km / h against another oncoming? Yes, a clear case of Dolorpasion and reached Burnout to resolve the doubts.

The game rewarded the hitting other cars and win turbo climbing positions. But the story became the basis of the fun as these shocks, recreated extremely detailed and repeated in slow motionLeft us so deluded that we only played to bust an opponent in the most cot.

In Criterion realized in successive deliveries and further enhanced this. Tests crazy, flying over a field of cars, burst at a certain speed, cause the maximum possible destruction ... yes, all this is Burnout and even points to the year 2001 as the date on which started it all, was a record sales at the time, let me recommend the latest installment.

Came in 2008 under the name of Burnout Paradise for Xbox 360, PC and PS3. Proposed for the first time in the franchise, free driving for a fictional town called Paradise City and, in short, was the milk. A graphic section brutal, mind-bending gameplay, and a few shocks detalladísimos crowned soundtrack to Guns N'Roses. What more could you want?

For constant updates and also have them. The game has been updated non-stop since its release and you can even get to play with Back to the Future DeLorean. Recently I saw him at a popular chain of stores to 9 euros. If you see it at that price, no doubt it. I keep playing and say that about a game that is 3 years, is saying something.

Split / Second (2010) - Disney

And I want to finish with a game today, one modern, that while our country has not much to talk about, it has been a hit in the U.S. and it is worth you to try. Split / Second, Boys of Black Rock Studio and published by Disney, proposed to immerse the player in an authentic visual madness.

Imagine a television program in which several sports car drivers risk their lives and try putearse each other to get out of the medium. Yes, until there is nothing new. Now imagine that the way putearse release not based on lasers, bombs or anything else "typical", no. Everything revolves destroy the real-time scenario and our way.

But like crazy. A plane lands and is stamped, that a whole building crumbling before us, petrol cans to explode destroying the road, a wrecking ball to break and start rolling down the road to destroying our way and forcing us to take another ... anything crazy, explosive and dramatic can happen to us.

To all this we must add, of course, a stunning graphical section, a bombproof playability and a full multiplayer challenges. The beauty of this Split / Second is that you have a demo available for Xbox 360 and PS3 that allows you to try before you and decide if you like the proposal or not.

I say that while the race starts as normal, after a good little begin to understand that something is wrong. When the first building collapses leaving the road before us full of burning debrisDust, potholes in the road and forces us to react quickly, take another route (that mysteriously opens because of the disaster) and try not to lose the position in the race, we find that the party is going to be big. And make no mistake.

I will say that this game will have come to see for 15 euros, in its PC version, and 19 and something for Xbox 360 and PS3. They also saw the light versions PSP and iPhone but it is clear that as the three largest (PC, PS3 and Xbox 360) no.

Epilogue

Here we close this series of posts dedicated to reviewing some of the most legendary car games that have seen the light. Yes, I have not fit all and that if we were talking about titles that have marked this section would be eternal.

Us crazy naive charm of Pole Position, the revolution of the original Need for Speed left an indelible mark on our skin, Gran Turismo drowned us placidly amid its endless options and graphics realism and, of course, enjoy as dwarves craft Wipeout gravitational circuits and impossible. Yes, we all have burned for hours and hours of our lives in front of a monitor or television enjoying roads and virtual circuits.

Some think we could if any dedicated to making things more out but "We had we had so much fun? I do not regret and if you look to the future, it gets much better.

Sections together will enjoy improved graphics, more realistic peripherals, 3D depth effects, surround sound systems, leaflets extremely sensitive, real circuits ported to the virtual world of weather, realistic physics engine and extremely ... we will do here in Motorpasion and Joystiq.
