Almost half of the Toyota Prius in the U.S. live (yet)

In 2000 started sales in the first Toyota Prius United States, where fuel prices were still too low and three years after its release in Japan. From then until today, have sold a million units in the country. Why is this figure important?

In October 2010 we learned that it had sold two million units globally, and this year Toyota celebrated its three millionth hybrid. More or less we can say that almost half of Toyota Prius are in the United States and almost one third of the Japanese brand hybrids were sold in that market.

The U.S. subsidiary says 97% of the Prius sold still work and on the roads. They also say they have saved 881 million gallons of gasoline (something like 3.3 million liters), 2,190 million dollars in fuel (can not be converted to euros by different exchange rates) and 12.4 million tonnes of CO ₂. Almost nothing!

U.S., A country of great contradictionsThat Manitou to understand. Serve this data for reflection in 2000 a liter of gasoline peaked on $ 2 a gallon. Doubling of the price reached a few years ago, which was considered science fiction not long ago.
